Actors for the narrative element

Umair
Role- boyfriend


We decided Umair should be the antagonist of our music video as he is considerably tall and muscular. Therefore, he would easily be portrayed as the dominant force in the relationship. In addition to this, Umair does not fit the stereotypical image of any member of our target audience so we would not find ourselves impersonating or offending anyone.


Veena

Role- girlfriend


Whereas, Umair is tall and muscular, Veena is more of a diminutive figure so she would be seen as the vulnerable character in our music video. To help establish this, a series of high angle shots would be shown to emphasise her innocence. Furthermore, she fits our criteria because she is part of our target audience, therefore, she would be easy to relate to. Although Umair does not necessarily fit the indie genre, Veena does with her long hair, so typical of what the females possess when they listen to this genre of music.

Anthony

Role- Lead Singer


We opted for, or rather Anthony volunteered, to be our lead singer of the band because he fits the convention of an indie band because of his age and stereotypical haircut, so it would be easy for the audience to relate to. He is also a more-than--able player of the guitar making a music video look much more professional as he will be singing whilst playing the instrument.


James

Role- Drummer


The reason why we decided James would be our drummer is because is plays the drums regularly, therefore, our music video would look more professional with him playing the drums in time with the best of the song. Furthermore he also looks indie, and as result of this, would appeal to our target audience.



Eric

Role- Guitarist


We included Erick in our band because he could actually play the guitar, therefore, making are music video as realistic as possible. In addition to this, his age enable our target audience to relate to him spontaneously, especially with the 'indie' clothes he will be wearing in the music video.



Laurence

Role- Guitarist


Just as all the other members of our band, Laurence is an able player of the guitar, thus making our final product as authentic as possible. Laurence also possesses the stereotypical indie haircut, similar to Anthony, our lead singer. This in turn means, he would be easily identified by the audience as a member of the Indie genre.

PICTURES OF OUR LOCATIONS


Our group decided that for our performance element of our music video, it would be filmed on a roof. Fortunately, in our school there are plenty of rooftops to choose from, but we decided to go for two of the biggest and most efficient rooftops to choose from. The reason why we decided to film the performance element of our music video on a roof is because in world re-known world bands such as 'U2' and 'The Beatles' have both filmed successful music videos on a rooftop. This photo-slide below shows our chosen rooftop location for our performance element.

In order for us to film the performance element of our music video, we needed permission from the headteacher of our school. To his greatness, he gave us permission to film on the roof, but informed us that we would need the school-keeper as well as another member of staff to act as our guardians whilst we filmed to ensure our safety.

This is a brief film of our video roof:

For the narrative element of our music video, Hannah, kindly offered us to film the music video at her house. As the narrative is based on domestic abuse it only made sense to film that element of our product in a house. We also took into serious consideration the fact that Hannah, out of all the other members of the group, lives closest to the school. Therefore, it would be much easier to carry the equipment to her house (as she lives within walking distance from the school), then the other members of the group. Furthermore, the her House is also decorated in neutral colours that would not contrast against the dull, black and grey clothes worn by our narrative actors. This would mean, the actors would be the primary focus throughout the music video.

PERMISSION FOR OUR MUSIC VIDEO

To be able to use our preferred music video- 'Stitches' by the Dykeenies we needed to get copyright permission from the band, so our Graphic Designer and Location Scout Hannah went on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/gofindthedykeenies to get their managers e-mail address so that we could get their permission to use the song.
